The Shriners Hospital Open is played over four days and 72 holes each October at the TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas.൩ The competition is a standard stroke play event, meaning that players compete to have the lowest below par score in total across all four days.
By Friday night, after which 36 holes should have been played by all, a cut is used to thin the field of competitors. Those who have not made the cut will not continue in the co🀅mpetition. However, those who did make the cut, will continue to shoot two more rounꦅds over the weekend.
After all 72 holes have been completed, the player that has the lowest score overall will be the champion unless there is a tie. In such a case where players finish on the same stroke score, a playoff will be enforced over the final three holes to find a winner.

Shriners Open started out as a 90 hole event on the tour in 1983 and with $750,000, it came with the highest purse on tour at the time. Back then, it was won by Fuzzy Zoeller (USA). A year later, the event became the first PGA event in history to offer a purse that exceeded a million dollars. By 2004, the tournament became the 72 hole event that it is today.
